DuraSpace Announces New CEO and Chief Strategy Officer
Michele Kimpton assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective March 1, 2011 succeeding Sandy Payette, who will be entering a doctoral program at Cornell University to pursue a PhD and new research focused on the intersection of technology, society, and policy. Jonathan Markow has also assumed the newly created position of Chief Strategy Officer for DuraSpace.

CALL for DSpace Community Advisory Team (DCAT) Members
The DSpace Community Advisory Team (DCAT) is currently seeking new members from the DSpace user community. The primary goals of DCAT is to help review and facilitate community-wide discussions about new feature requests and to provide support to the DSpace Committer group in producing software releases.

A Preview of Fedora 3.5
Fedora 2.5 focuses on several "under the hood" changes that improve the service's ability to be integrated and tested as part of larger repository systems and sets the stage for a full move to Spring-based pluggability and configuration. Several of the most popular issues will also be addressed in this release, including dropping the requirement to use DBXML if you elect to use FeSL for policy enforcement.

NEW: OpenWMS from Rutgers-A Web-based Workflow Management Tool With Fedora
The Rutgers University Libraries are pleased to announce the availability of OpenWMS, a web-based workflow management tool for managing digital objects and their associated metadata. OpenWMS is the open-source release of the Rutgers University Libraries' RUcore repository workflow management tool and will be maintained on the RUcore annual release schedule.

Geek Woman: Sandy Payette, Duraspace
Sandy Payette, chief executive officer of Duraspace was featured as the 'Wednesday Geek Woman on Februrary 9, 2011 and recognized for her groundbreaking work on the original Fedora repository architecture as part of a research project that included collaborators at Cornell University and University of Virginia.
