Thank You to Our DuraSpace Community of Supporters

Ithaca, NY Earlier this year the DuraSpace organization asked partners, collaborators, colleagues and communities to join us in helping to address the world's most immediate data preservation needs by participating in our 2011 Sponsorship Campaign. Your response was heartening. Thanks to you we exceeded our goal and along with you have made significant progress towards meeting the challenges associated with preserving and providing access to a rapidly expanding sea of scientific, cultural and research data.

DuraSpace CEO Michele Kimpton says, “Our sponsors have made a strategic investment in DuraSpace as part of their commitment to durable access to our collective digital materials. We aim to deliver in return innovative solutions and technologies built on the community open source process.”

No matter how vast this sea of data becomes we’re committed to finding solutions together. Financial support from the 2011 Sponsorship Campaign will help us sustain and improve Fedora and DSpace–two of the most dominant global open source repository solutions, provide support for innovative open source initiatives, build community infrastructure for collaboration, offer training and educational resources, and widely distribute community news and information with a global network of colleagues who share our belief that preserving the world's intellectual, cultural and scientific heritage is vital.

This year 62 organizations joined with us (see list below). Twenty of those organizations are new 2011 sponsors, three of which are new gold level sponsors. We are also pleased to report that all 2010 gold level sponsors renewed their support this year.

Along with other like-minded organizations and communities focused on finding digital preservation solutions, we at DuraSpace would like to thank all of our 2011 Sponsors and take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy and prosperous new year.
