Cambridge, MA On August 4, 2011, the DuraCloud team kicked off the DuraCloud Video Pilot Project with a one day meeting with pilot institutions the Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT) and WGBH Boston. The goal of the DuraCloud Video Pilot is to have a robust video offering embedded in the DuraCloud platform that will be available to the public through the DuraCloud service.
The day was spent discussing issues specific to video in the cloud. Various topics were covered during the meeting held at MIT, including video access and preservation formats, video transcoding procedures and software, delivery mechanisms, access controls, and video streaming. Priorities were discussed with testing set to start in the fall. Updates to DuraCloud software will be made based on testing outcomes. The pilot is scheduled to wrap up by the end of the year.
