History and Culture Through DSpace at Tuskegee University Archives Repository

Ithaca, NY Tuskegee University was founded in post-civil war Alabama to educate and empower freed slaves. Lewis Adams and George W. Campbell were instrumental securing funds to open what was then known as the Tuskegee Normal School in 1881 under the leadership of former slave Booker T. Washington. The Auburn University Libraries Systems Department recently completed a collaborative project with Tuskegee University to make their archival materials available online in a DSpace Repository.
