From Patrick Yott, Associate Dean for Digital Strategies and Services, Northeastern University Libraries

Northeastern University will be hosting this year’s Northeast Fedora Users Group (NEFUG) meeting from 9:00 4:00 on Monday, June 23rd.     We are going to change things a bit from the first two NEFUG events by having a bit more structure to the day.

The tentative schedule includes:

9:00 9:30 - Registration, coffee and pastries

9:30 10:15 - Updates on Fedora 4 and Duraspace

10:30 12:00 - Concurrent Sessions:

A: Hydra Breakout (project reports, project plans, discussions)

B: Islandora Breakout (project reports, project plans, discussions)

C: Unconference (space to be provided)

12:00 1:15 - Lunch & Dork Shorts

1:30 2:45- Concurrent Sessions:

A: Hydra Breakout (project reports, project plans, discussions)

B: Islandora Breakout (project reports, project plans, discussions)

C: Unconference (space to be provided)

3:00 4:00 - Regroup and reports from breakouts

During the breakout sessions, we will hear reports from institutions that have or are in the process of developing repositories and related services in each of the two leading frameworks.  The objectives here are to energize participants around common areas of interest, to brainstorm options for overcoming pain points and development issues, and for groups to coalesce around these issues with the goal for further information sharing and possible joint activities.  We are also providing space for folks to get together in a more unstructured way.

We are hoping that folks representing a wide range of repository activities — from developers to metadata specialists to repository managers - will be able to join us for what should be an invigorating day of demos and discussion.

As in past years, registration is free.  In order for us to order lunch and refreshments and to provision wireless accounts for the day, please register by Monday, June 16, 2014 at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ikDdM6vRqPmn0P0UBxXNv1NoPXmnHyrPbBotnjl9uHM/viewform.
