From Sean Wallace, Client Relations Manager, Longsight
Independence, OH Longsight, a provider of higher education solutions that include leading, managing, supporting and developing open source technologies, is pleased to announce that Peter Dietz has joined their DSpace team. Peter comes to Longsight from The Ohio State University where he helped implement OSU’s Knowledge Bank among many other projects. Peter developed a REST-API to DSpace to allow DSpace data to be re-used outside of DSpace, added a new Usage Statistics engine to DSpace powered by Elastic Search to allow for deeper insight into usage of content in the repository. He’s also worked on improving the user experience and presentation of content, as well as a citation-cover-page feature which prepends a new page to each PDF with repository metadata, on-the-fly as the user downloads it.
At Longsight, Peter will continue as a DSpace developer and committer with a focus on extending the application-integrations, APIs, features, customizations-driven by our clients and the DSpace community. Stop by the Longsight table at Open Repositories ’14 June 9-13 in Helsinki to meet Peter in person and learn more about how he and Longsight can help!
