The second webinar in our  “Doing It: How Non-ARL Institutions are Managing Digital Collections,” series was presented on November 12, 2014 by Liz Bishoff, Partner, The Bishoff Group LLC and Carissa Smith, Product Manager, DuraSpace.  Together they presented, “Trends Toward Hosted Service Adoption and Implementation for Managing Digital Collections.”  The Managing Digital Collections survey of non-ARL academic libraries found that the majority of these libraries had either implemented an institutional/digital repository or were planning on implementing one in the next several years. Further, the preferred technical strategy was to use a hosted service. This webinar reviewed the reasons why hosted services were selected and which hosted services are currently used. Presenters also explored opportunities for  hosted digital preservation strategies based on the needs identified in the survey.

The third and final webinar in this series, “Doing It:  Real Life Experiences with Hosted Institutional /Digital Repository Services,” will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015.  Registration is available here.
