For Your Weekend Repository Browsing Pleasure: The Jazz Loft Project at the New York Public Library

Ithaca, NY The 1950s were a hopeful time in New York City. The arts were flourishing as former Life magazine photographer W. Eugene Smith began photographing Jazz greats such as Charles Mingus, Zoot Sims, Bill Evans, and Thelonious Monk in a run-down NYC loft. The resulting Jazz Loft Project photographs evoke a time when expansive musical experimentation matched the big cars people were driving out on Sixth Avenue.

Ithaca, NY Paul Gearon, Technical Lead and Developer, DuraSpace, has announced the release of Mulgara 2.1.7. Major changes in this release include: long running queries executed over RMI can now be interrupted; better SPARQL compliance in the algebra, and; more efficient memory use for some operations. Ithaca, NY A portion of the world’s digital knowledge is represented in the “Ranking Web of World Repositories” (http://repositories.webometrics.info/top400_rep.asp), an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab that provides an online ranking of the top 400 repositories in the world. Cybermetrics Lab is a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), a public research body in Spain.
