DuraSpace and euroCRIS will co-host a one-day event to focus on interoperability between DSpace repository and CRIS systems in advance of the CRIS 2018 Conference in Umeå, Sweden - on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

The Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) organized an ARK Identifier Summit followed by an ARK Experts Day in Paris last week. The California Digital Library’s John Kunze, Identifier Systems Architect and creator of ARKs, was invited to give the opening keynote (“The Covenant of the ARK”) at the Summit and lead the Experts Day.

On March 28th Erin Tripp, DuraSpace Business Development Manager, presented a DuraSpace Community Webinar, "Open Source Repository Upgrades: Top Advice from Practitioners.”  In this webinar Erin shared practical advice about repository upgrades and migrations.  The advice shared was derived from a 2017 DuraSpace survey that resulted in responses from librarians, application analysts, engineers, and project managers from the United States, Canada, the UK, and Switzerland.  Erin highlighted the advice that was shared so participants could benefit from the experience of their peers

As the number of DSpace and Fedora repositories and VIVO installations grow–in 2018 there are more than 2,900 registered worldwide–the desire to learn more about them–where are they, how they are accessed online, what type of content they hold, software versions, specializations etc.–also increases. Answers to these and other questions can lead to greater connections among institutions and repository instances with similar goals and interests.

During a recent meeting of DSpace Developers an idea was shared by Terry Brady of Georgetown University, to host community meetings that discuss what DSpace Developers are up to; a developer showcase that allows developers the opportunity to share their tools, processes and recent work with everyone in the DSpace community.

As part of the Archival Resource Keys (ARKs) in the Open project, we want to articulate and refine the long-term vision for ARK identifiers, starting with the ARK specification, and to collaborate with users on how to achieve it. Incubators of ARKs at the California Digital Library started the process this week by releasing a new Project Vision:
