London, UK BioMed Central has launched Systematic Reviews, a new journal which encompasses all aspects of the design, conduct and reporting of systematic reviews and associated research. As the first open access journal dedicated to the topic, Systematic Reviews will not only provide a home for protocols, methodologies and updates to previous research, but will also contribute to the increased dissemination and transparency in reporting of trials and reviews.

Ithaca, NY On Feb 7, 2012 Liz Bishoff, partner at The Bishoff Group LLC. and Tom Clareson, Senior Consultant, Digital and Preservation Services, LYRASIS,  presented the first of three webinars in the Hot Topics series entitled “Knowledge Futures: Digital Preservation Planning”. In this web seminar the presenters focused on processes and best practices for preservation planning.

Ithaca, NY A recent National Digital Stewardship Alliance (NDSA) survey [1] highlighted members' [2] digtal asset storage practices. NDSA members include 98 libraries, archives, museums and other organizations committed to keeping digital information accessible over time. Through this survey [3] the NDSA Infrastructure Working Group explored  content storage, including cloud options, with NDSA members.

Boston, MA In January, the Boston Library Consortium hosted “Sloan Summit II: Open Access – Mission and Mandate,” at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts.  The Summit program provided an opportunity for University administrators, especially provosts and vice presidents of research, and Boston Library Consortium (BLC) members to explore open accessissues and determine appropriate activities for their institutions.
