Add your voice to the new ARKs in the Open Roadmap and Resources and Value Statement. These new project artifacts describe the product and community resources required to fulfill a sustainable future for ARKS and our value proposition.

The roadmap is designed to welcome people to the ARKs in the Open project, tell them how to get involved in the project, and present a list of short-term, long-term, and aspirational priorities.

As part of the Archival Resource Keys (ARKs) in the Open project, we want to articulate and refine the long-term vision for ARK identifiers, starting with the ARK specification, and to collaborate with users on how to achieve it. Incubators of ARKs at the California Digital Library started the process this week by releasing a new Project Vision:

As announced last week, the California Digital Library (CDL) and DuraSpace are collaborating to build an open, international community around Archival Resource Keys (ARKs) and their use as persistent identifiers in the open scholarly ecosystem. We’re calling the project ARKs in the Open.

DuraSpace is thrilled to announce its acceptance into the latest cohort of the Mozilla Open Leaders program, with its project Open Sourcing DuraCloud: Beyond the License.

Mozilla Open Leaders is a 12-week, online mentorship & training course. It focuses on growing a culture of openness in innovation and research, as well as, fueling the Internet Health movement by engaging contributors in their work and connecting with other leaders in the Mozilla Network.

Beginning today, we invite anyone in the community, DuraSpace members or non-members, to nominate an individual who you believe would be a good representative for the community.  All nominees must be from DuraSpace member organizations (see full list here) and Board-Member-at-Large candidates should be at the senior management level at their organizations, having fiscal and staffing responsibility.

VIVO Camp is a multi-day training event designed specifically for new and prospective users. Camp will be held November 9-11, 2017 on the campus of Duke University in Durham, NC. Over two and a half days, VIVO Camp will start with an introduction to VIVO leading to a comprehensive overview by exploring these topics:

  • VIVO features

  • Examples and demos of VIVO including customizations

  • Representing scholarship
