Fedora Futures Project Welcomes New Technical Lead

Winchester, MA  The DuraSpace organization and the Fedora Futures Project are pleased to announce that Andrew Woods will take over as the new Technical Lead for Fedora effective May 15, 2013. In this role he will provide technical leadership for the Fedora Futures Project. Woods joined the DuraSpace organization in early 2009 as a Fedora committer. Since then he has helped establish the D.C. Area Fedora Users Group, been a project co-lead on DuraCloud, and worked in various technical and advisory capacities within DPN, APTrust, Chronopolis, and NDSA.

Dryad Launches Redesigned DSpace-based Web Site

Dryad recently launched a redesigned web site powered by DSpace at http://datadryad.org with lots of new content. The Dryad Digital Repository is a curated resource that makes the data underlying scientific publications discoverable, freely reusable, and citable providing a general-purpose home for diverse datatypes.

PREVIEW: DuraSpace Sponsorship Campaign 2013

Winchester, MA  The DuraSpace Sponsorship Campaign will kick-off on May 7, 2013 to raise funds for the DSpace and Fedora projects. The annual campaign supports the continued advancement of DSpace and Fedora open source software which is available free of charge. This year DuraSpace sponsors may chose to designate funds for either DSpace or Fedora, or to support DuraSpace generally.

Washington, DC  The deadline for submitting a proposal for Digital Preservation 2013 is April 26. The meeting will be held July 23-25 in the Washington DC area and will bring the the broad, diverse digital preservation and stewardship community together to share achievements in the areas technical infrastructure, innovation, content collection, standardization, and outreach and education efforts.
