Invitation to Participate in Beta Launch of DSpaceDirect

Winchester, MA  The DSpaceDirect service is extending the beta launch phase and is looking for TEN more institutions to participate alongside the current list of soft launch customers: ALA Archives (through the University of Illinois), Bennington College, Spring Arbor University, Verified Voting, and the National Children's Advocacy Center.

NOW AVAILABLE: Easy Drag and Drop Upload with DuraCloud 2.4.0

Winchester, MA  Today the DuraSpace organization announced the release of DuraCloud 2.4.0. The latest version of DuraCloud offers customers significantly improved content upload and download capabilities including the drag and drop upload feature, installers that make it easy to use the Sync Tool, and more. DuraCloud is an archiving and preservation service that gives users the choice of where to store their content while providing a suite of services that ensure their content's long term accessibility.

CALL: CNI Fall 2013 Membership Meeting, Washington, DC, Dec. 9-10

Washington, DC  Proposals are now being accepted for project briefings to be presented at CNI's Fall 2013 Membership Meeting in Washington, DC on Dec. 9-10.

Project briefings are 45-minute or one-hour sessions that focus on a discussion of a hot topic, or on a specific institutional/organizational project related to digital information. A limited number of project briefings are accepted.

DuraSpace at EDUCAUSE: Open-Source Collaboration: A Pathway to Sustainability

 UNC Chapel Hill Libraries and DuraSpace have partnered to make digital preservation software available to a broader community. This collaboration provides a model for other institutions to gain broader adoption of their open-source software and improve long-term sustainability. This presentation will address the successes and challenges of this model.

DuraSpace Board Member Ann Wolpert

Winchester, MA  Longtime DuraSpace board member, friend and supporter Ann Wolpert died on October 1, 2013. MIT News notes that she was a "leading light on role of the research library in the digital age" as director of MIT libraries. Her vision and energy will be sorely missed.
