Connect with the OR10 Conference on Crowdvine

Ithaca, NY This year’s OR10 Conference will be held from July 6 through 9 at the at Palacio de Congresos in Madrid, Spain. As the dates get closer information, who’s who, and various posts-links-tweets-tags (use #OR10 for conference-related items) will be featured on the OR10 Crowdvine (http://or10.crowdvine.com/) site. Now Available: Akubra 0.3

Akubra is a Java API that provides read/write access to URI-addressable files.  It is currently used by the Fedora Commons Repository software to provide an adaptable, file-oriented low level storage layer, but it is not Fedora-specific. Fedora 3.3 Update: IPv6 Loopback Variants and Default Policies

Ithaca, NY Fedora 3.3: a couple of the (deny-*-if-not-localhost) default policies were updated to work in IPv6 environments by adding ::1 as an acceptable client address (FCREPO-581).
I was recently testing something unrelated, and found when I tried to do certain operations using my browser, authorization failed.  Further digging revealed that in these cases, my client ip address, as
reported by Servlet.getRemoteAddr(), was 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1%0, which didn’t match the acceptable IP addresses in the default policies.

SPARC Announces Sparky Award Winners, Opens People’s Choice Contest

Washington, DC Three new student films on information sharing have been voted the best by a panel of new media experts, students, and librarians in the third annual Sparky Awards. Organized by SPARC (the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition) and adopted by campuses everywhere, the Sparky Awards contest calls on entrants to creatively illustrate in a short video the value of openly sharing ideas.
